Fairy Meadow Beach, located nearby, welcomes dogs in designated off-leash areas.

Sea Cliff Bridge Walk

Distance: 665m one way

The Sea Cliff Bridge is an iconic Australian destination, providing breathtaking views and excellent opportunities to view migrating whales. Before embarking on this short walk its crucial to be confident that your dog will be comfortable with the passing of vehicles, reactive dogs may not enjoy this experience. To begin the walk, park at the south end of the bridge. 

Coniston Beach

Leash: Off-leash is allowed on the beach south of Bank Street

Coniston Beach, located in close proximity to the city, offers a great spot for dog owners to take their dogs for a stroll. South of Bank Street, dogs are allowed to roam freely off-leash. It’s important to note that this beach is unpatrolled, and dangerous rips can occur, making swimming not advisable. However, with its 24-hour off-leash policy and the beautiful coastal scenery, Coniston Beach remains an appealing destination for dog owners looking to give their dog some freedom whilst they stroll the along the coast. 

Perkins Beach

Distance: 4km one way

Grade: Easy

Leash: Off-leash is allowed on Perkins Beach

Perkins Beach, located between Port Kembla Beach and Windang Beach, offers 4km of off-leash area. Dogs are allowed off leash from North of Boundary Road in Windang, to the South end of Port Kembla Beach. Similar to Coniston Beach, it’s important to note that Perkins Beach is unpatrolled and dangerous rips can occur, so swimming is not recommended for both dogs and their owners.

Flagstaff Hill Park Walk

Distance: 1km loop

Grade: Easy

Leash: Yes, at all times

This walk around Flagstaff Hill Park is a short and leisurely walk, offering 360 degree views of the ocean and Wollongong. As you walk, keep an eye out for whales migrating either North or South depending on the time of year.
